Medications such as prostaglandin analogs, beta-blockers, and carbonic anhydrase inhibitors help reduce intraocular pressure, slowing the progression of optic nerve damage. Innovations in sustained-release formulations and combination therapies are improving adherence by reducing the frequency of dosing and simplifying treatment regimens.


Dry eye disease, increasingly prevalent due to digital device use and environmental factors, is effectively managed with lubricating eye drops, anti-inflammatory agents, and tear film stabilizers. Recent developments include formulations with improved viscosity, mucoadhesive properties, and sustained hydration, offering long-lasting relief for patients experiencing discomfort, burning, or visual disturbances.


Patient compliance is a critical factor in the success of ophthalmic treatments. Formulations with enhanced comfort, reduced irritation, and convenient dosing schedules contribute to better adherence and overall treatment effectiveness. Additionally, ongoing research focuses on nanotechnology-based delivery systems, which may allow for even more precise drug targeting, extended release, and improved penetration through ocular barriers.
